Behind Gilbertine...

Its creator, Candice. A lawyer by training, I worked in the field of intellectual property for around fifteen years, while seeking more creative pastures when I became a mother.

I'm fiddling with the sewing machine, with a little idea in mind. Work with passion.

'Your second life begins when you understand that you only have one' -Raphaelle Giordano

In love with Liberty® fabrics and a lifelong fan of books, I designed Gilbertine® products following the observation of a need. That of protecting 'my precious ones' and taking them everywhere thanks to soft and elegant fabric pouches. No more getting my loaned book all damaged.

My reading tastes don't go off the beaten track. I devour the latest nuggets from my favorite authors: Valérie Perrin, Melissa Da Costa, Alia Cardyn, Delia Owens, Delphine de Vigan , and many others... Bestsellers? Well Named!

Why the name Gilbertine?

Gilbertine is a little character with an outdated, not very common name, who could come straight out of... a novel.

Local and sustainable artisanal production

Not very far from you

Our products are handcrafted in a small workshop
Belgian with a social purpose. By purchasing Gilbertine® products, you
please but you also support the Belgian economy and the market
work of people with disabilities. Prices for artisanal products
quality premises cannot match those of supermarkets or big
online platform. Buy less but better is the leitmotif.

Quality machine washable fabrics

Our collection gives pride of place to the fabulous prints of the
prestigious English brand Liberty ®, synonymous with quality. More precisely, the Liberty ® 100% cotton Lasenby fabric initially designed for Patchwork. It is ideal for making accessories. Padded, our pouches are robust and soft at the same time. They are machine washable at 30°C on a delicate program to prolong their beauty and longevity. All our fabrics are pre-washed before making.

Increased attention to waste

In order to limit unsold items and waste, stock is very limited
and operates in regular restocking with new patterns or models. Do you fall for a model? He is available ? Don't wait to order!

Everything is calculated to produce as little scrap as possible during manufacturing. Unavoidable scraps are used for ribbons and other small textile products. We don't throw away a single usable piece of Liberty ® fabric! They are so beautiful ;-)
